The domestic market's demand for poultry meat, beef, and pork is fully satisfied in Belarus, the press service of the Belarusian Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry told BelTA.
The government has authorized a plan on shipping meat products to the country's consumer market in order to fully satisfy the consumer market's demand. The Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry and the Agriculture and Food Ministry check the fulfillment of the plan every week.
The share of Belarusian products in retail sales stands at 100% for pork, 99.5% for beef and poultry meat. Every year Belarusian retailers sell about 130,000-135,000 tonnes of poultry meat, 70,000-75,000 tonnes of pork, and 5,000-7,000 tonnes of beef.
Meat production in Belarus considerably exceeds the domestic market's demand. Belarusians consume less than 30% of the poultry meat and pork and less than 3% of the beef made in the country. The rest is exported, the Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry said.
In accordance with the plan Belarusian retailers are supposed to get 18,500 tonnes of poultry meat every month. The plan's completion rate was 109% in April 2023, including 119% for poultry carcasses and 105% for poultry cuts. The Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry can see that a sufficient choice of products is available in all the outlets retailing meat.
Thus, the nation's consumer demand for pork, beef, and poultry meat is satisfied in full, with the necessary choice of products available in retail.
