The coat of arms was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 36 of January 20, 2006.
There are several versions of the origin of the name of the city. "Chashnik" - in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a representative of the princely administration, whose duties included pouring drinks into the dishes of the Grand Duke, bowls brought to the cup. Consequently, the architectural structure in the coat of arms is a stylized image of a fortress, a castle, a princely court, at which there was a position of a bowler and a bowl. The fortress stands on three green hills, the middle of which is lower than the others With a similar configuration of the tip in the coat of arms, its authors sought to convey the location of the city, which is located in a lowland, as if "in a bowl", relative to the surface of Lake Lukoml.
But the image of some abstract structure, according to its creators, did not fully convey the specific clans that owned this place. For this purpose, a common method of compiling coats of arms was used, namely, placing the gentry coat of arms in the shield field.
"Radvan" is the family coat of arms of the Volodkovichs, who owned the town of Chashniki for a considerable time, starting from 1774. In particular, the Skina paper mill was built under them, and later the Krasnaya Zvezda paper mill.
The authors of the coat of arms: V.V. Korablin - design engineer of the production and technical department of the branch of the Order of the Badge of Honor of the Lukoml State District Power Station of the Vitebsk RUE "Electric Power Engineering" (Vitgebskenergo) and S.M. Mefodiev - senior firefighter of the emergency rescue unit No. 2 at the facilities of the Lukoml State District Power Plant.
